UK Study And Coronavirus
Guidance for International Students
UK universities are currently processing international applications as normal and the intended Autumn intake will be running as planned.
This is an evolving situation and Study-Globally continues to work with the UK government and local public health authorities to distribute appropriate guidance to UK international students.
The Education and Universities Ministers of the four countries of the United Kingdom (UK) addressed a letter dated 22 June to international students who will be studying in the UK from autumn 2020. It covers a number of matters, including how you will be taught and supported in your academic and personal life, the introduction of the post-study work graduate route, and links to other useful sources of information
Stusdy-Globally are closely monitoring local conditions and government's advice in the UK, as well as across all our global offices. If you need to speak to someone, please reach out to our team on 020-847-12345 / +44 7417 479499 or arrange a free online consultation.
Study UK and Coronavirus Updates
- Autumn 2020 Entry
The next student intake, which is scheduled for September/October 2020, will be going ahead as planned and UK universities are currently processing applications as normal.
- In-person Teaching
The majority of British universities are planning to offer in-person teaching and face-to-face social opportunities this autumn, according to research.More than nine in 10 (97%) institutions have said they will provide some in-person teaching to students at the start of term this year, according to a Universities UK (UUK) poll of 92 universities.
97% of the universities surveyed said they will provide some in-person teaching to students at the start of term this year, whilst 87% are planning to provide in-person sporting, fitness and wellbeing activities in the autumn.
- Student Visa Extensions
All international students who are unable to return to their home country because of coronavirus have been granted an automatic extension until May 31st by the UK Government.
The extension will apply to any student whose visa expired after January 24th who cannot leave the UK because of travel restrictions or self-isolation. It will initially last until July 31st, but will be kept under regular review as the situation regarding the virus remains fluid. A dedicated coronavirus immigration team has been set up, ensuring the process moves as straightforward as possible. Those who have previously had their visa extended to May 31st do not need to apply again.
- Online Learning at UK Universities
It is expected that teaching at UK universities will be partially moving online from Autumn 2020. Many campuses will be open, but hybrid learning will take place, with face-to-face tuition and digital lectures and seminars allowing social distancing guidelines to be followed.
Many universities are also currently considering a number of ways study can remain as normal as possible. This includes:
- Extending the way Pre-Sessional English offer can be accessed
- Exploring blended learning options for any students who is unable to join in September
- January starts in some key subjects
